Hfts hour on the plinth

Architect, Tim Bushe, 56, of Highbury, London, will form a “living monument” on behalf of Hft when he takes his place on the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square on Thursday, 16th July at 4pm.

A married father of three, Mr Bushe is one of the first 615 individuals randomly chosen by computer to participate in Antony Gormley’s One & Other scheme. He plans to use his hour on the plinth to make a continuous 360 degree drawing of Trafalgar Square from inside a Perspex drum which he will later auction on ebay for Hft.

Tim chose to dedicate his hour on the plinth to Hft and to raise money for us because of the support Hft has given to his youngest sister, Martha, and to hundreds of other people with learning disabilities and their families throughout the country.

Martha will be there on the day, together with a group of people from Hft’s service in Kent, to cheer her brother on from the base of the plinth.

Hft’s vision is for people with learning disabilities to live the lives they want and choose”, said Mr Bushe. The charity is committed to finding ways to encourage people to lead independent and fulfilling lives and supporting them to achieve this, all of which fits in well with Gormley’s vision for the plinth, ‘to reflect on the diversity, vulnerability and particularity of the individual in contemporary society’.”

Television star and celebrity, Griff Rhys Jones, is encouraging people to sponsor Tim’s hour on the Fourth Plinth and to visit his JustGiving site at www.justgiving.com/timbushe

As a patron of Hft and with a personal interest in architecture, I think this is a great opportunity for Hft which does such a good job helping people with learning disabilities live the lives they want”, said Griff. “Do please follow the link to Tim’s JustGiving site to support him in his hour.”
