Rory joins with Robert and Juliet to Celebrate the Coming of Christmas

Britain’s sharpest impressionist, Rory Bremner, will join famous actors, Robert Hardy and Juliet Stevenson, to celebrate the “Coming of Christmas”, in an enchanting candlelit evening of seasonal readings at Dorchester Abbey, Dorchester on Thames, at 8pm on Wednesday, 16th December 2009.

Rory Bremner

Rory Bremner’s unique brand of comedy and satire has sustained a highly successful career in radio and television for over 25 years. Apart from his regular series of ‘Bremner, Bird and Fortune’, he has appeared in many of the top TV comedy shows, from Spitting Image and Whose Line Is It Anyway, to Have I Got News For You, Mock The Week and QI. He is a frequent guest on The Andrew Marr Show (BBC1) where he provides a satirical review of current political events through his many characters.

One of England’s most enduringly successful character actors, Robert Hardy, is probably best known for his role as Siegfried Farnon in “All Creatures Great and Small” and his portrayal of the fictitious Minister of Magic Cornelius Fudge in the Harry Potter films.

Juliet Stevenson is remembered for her role in the film “Truly Madly, Deeply” which first appeared in 1991. Ranked among the country’s most esteemed stage actresses, Juliet recently received great acclaim in ‘Duet for One’ at London’s Vaudeville Theatre and has appeared in a variety of film and television productions.

In the presence of HRH, The Princess Royal, the three popular celebrities will deliver a selection of Christmas prose and poetry with music from the internationally renowned Choir of Magdalen College Oxford, conducted by Daniel Hyde.

Now in its fifteenth year, the Coming of Christmas is a much loved annual charity event organised by Hft, national charity for people with learning disabilities and their families.

All the proceeds from this exceptional concert will go towards Hft’s “Byte Size Learning” project, a new approach to training for people with learning disabilities which will equip students with City and Guilds qualifications enabling them to progress into employment in the catering industry.

We are honoured to welcome HRH The Princess Royal to our ‘Coming of Christmas’ celebration again this year”, said Hilary Colbert, Hft regional fund development manager.

“Our warm thanks to Rory Bremner, Robert Hardy, Juliet Stevenson and to the Choir of Magdalen College Oxford in lending their talents to make this event so special. All monies raised will help to fund the first year of Hft’s “Byte Size Learning” project in Oxfordshire to help people with learning disabilities realise their dream of being treated as equals in the job market”.
