Hft Forest of Dean
Hft's Forest of Dean services provide support for individuals with learning disabilities, autism and challenging behaviour.
Our team works to encourage, support and promote independence as far possible within each individual's needs and wishes. The staff team are passionate and motivated about working in partnership with families and professionals to realise positive outcomes for the people we support, consistently aiming to ensure that they achieve their goals and aspirations as far possible.
Living at Hft Forest of Dean means being supported to access a range of day opportunities, with participation in chosen activities planned with individual key-workers. This might include cooking, cycling, going on nature walks in the local woods, swimming, going shopping, or focusing on keeping healthy. Some of the people living at Hft Forest of Dean are supported to attend the local college; activities are intended to be tailored to meet individual's personal choices.
People we support are also encouraged to develop independent living focused skills such as going to the local bank and managing their own finances, to help people to gain the ability to do day to day tasks for themselves.
Hft Forest of Dean's services are situated on the edge of Coleford, meaning a short trip into the town grants access to a wide range of amenities, such as a cinema, a sports and leisure centre and supermarkets. We recruit staff from the local community so that they can use their knowledge of the area to support people in leading a full and varied life.

We’re putting together a small team of dedicated graduate-level staff, known as ‘Expert Practitioners’. This team will creatively support people with complex needs to make the transition into the community by balancing hands-on, daily support and activities, with the application of academic theory.
