Making friends - Jason

Jason’s confidence has grown since he joined Hft’s friendship and dating agency, Luv2meetU

Jason first heard about Hft’s friendship and dating agency, Luv2meetU, from a friend at his youth club. He’s now a regular at the agency’s events which include bowling, swimming, countryside walks and parties – recently he went on a lads’ night out.  

Jason says: ”I didn’t used to go out socially before joining Luv2meetU. I now feel I have a life. I’m more independent and travel to different places to attend social events – I go from Wakefield to Leeds most weeks.”

Karen England, Project Development Manager for Luv2meetU can see the difference The Big Lottery funded service makes. She explains: “Not only is Jason much more confident in himself and making friends but he has learnt new skills like reading a bus timetable and following maps confidently. He has a real network of friends now, something that was missing before.”

Jason’s parents say: “Jason is getting to go out more since joining Luv2meetU. His confidence has increased which has allowed him to do more for himself. Even his reliance on medication – Jason was being treated for depression and mood swings - has decreased as a result of joining the agency.”
