September has always been a celebratory month for HFT as it marks the anniversary of HFT being formed. It’s also the month when staff and members gather together at our Annual General Meeting, and we reflect on the year gone by.
This year we’re also celebrating in another way by making September HFT’s Remembrance Month – a chance to celebrate the lives of loved ones and raise vital funds for HFT at the same time.
We’ve found from receiving In Memory donations, and setting up Zinnia Funds in memory of loved ones for friends and families that, when they lose someone, it can be helpful to remember them in a positive and meaningful way. Raising funds in memory of someone special can be rewarding for everyone involved, bringing together the whole family, friends and work colleagues. Over the past few years HFT has seen a big increase in this form of giving and last year over £30,000 was donated either in memory or for Zinnia Funds.
A Zinnia Fund is designed as a way to celebrate the life of someone close to you by ensuring that all your donations to HFT are in their memory. The Zinnia Flower represents thoughts of absent friends while the yellow Zinnia stands for daily remembrance. HFT can set up a named Fund for a family member, friend or work colleague. There will also be an opportunity to set one up at the AGM which is being held in Bristol on Saturday 27th September.
So, with this in mind, we’re designating September an official Remembrance Month and encouraging our supporters to fundraise for HFT in memory of someone special to them throughout the whole month. (Insert fundraising downloadable form here).
One of the ways in which HFT will be promoting Remembrance Month and also hoping to raise our profile is by selling Remembrance pins through the our Shops in September. To find your nearest HFT Charity Shop please click here: www.hft.org.uk/p/11/35/36/Our_shops.html.
