HFT is a progressive and forward thinking organisation and we lead the way in using Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for people who have learning disabilities.
ICT is an integral part of today's society. It plays an important role in relation to communication which is one of the values key to our services. We strive to include our service users in that progression and have provided access to ICT using the latest computer hardware and software.
We host an annual ICT Conference aimed at people working in the learning disability sector who are committed to empowering and enabling individuals to take their place in society.
HFT runs the HFT Karten CTEC Centre in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, which provides training ICT to family carers and staff working with people with a learning disability both in HFT and other organisations.
We are also the lead partner in a major transnational European funded project called TATE (Through Assistive Technology To Employment). This is researching how electronic assistive technology (AT) can support independence for people with learning disabilities and their carers and enhance their employment prospects.
