HFT is pioneering the use of Information and Communication Technology.
ICT is an integral part of today's society. It plays an important role in relation to communication, which is one of the values key to our services. We have provided access to ICT for everyone, using the latest computer hardware and software.
We are also leading in the use of Person Centred Technology - Assistive Technology and Electronic Assistive Technology - to support people, enabling them to be more independent and increase their employment prospects.
We host an annual ICT Conference aimed at people working in the learning disability sector who are committed to empowering and enabling individuals to take their place in society.
HFT also run the HFT Karten CTEC Centre in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, which provides training ICT to family carers and staff working with people with a learning disability both in HFT and other organisations.
We were also the lead partner in a major transnational European funded project called TATE (Through Assistive Technology To Employment), which researched how electronic assistive technology (AT) can support independence.
