Working outside the UK

Parent Support Centre '“ Moscow
Through a series of Institution Building Partnership Programme grants from the European Commission (EC) the Family Carer Support Service is helping HPSCF (a Moscow-
based charity) to develop a range of parent-
to-
parent support services. These include a befriender training/peer support programme using Scope's face2face materials, a free telephone helpline for parents of disabled children, drop-
in support opportunities and a seminar programme for a network of other Russian disability organisations and professionals.
During 2005 '“ 6 this work also includes helping children and their parents make successful transitions from HPSCF's specialised pre-
school centre into local schools and improving medical staff's skills for working with parents.
With a further, overlapping, EC grant (2006 '“ 7) we will support HPSCF to establish an Inclusive Education network for those interested in enabling children with disabilities living in ex Soviet States to have more suitable educational opportunities.
