HFT has a free national service dedicated to empowering family carers, so they and their learning disabled relatives can live full, well supported lives.

We recognise families are often unaware of their rights.  They can find it difficult to get the information they need, or have good working relationships with professionals. Our family carer support service (FCSS) provides - Individual support (by telephone, letter or email); Workshop courses; Family Carer News Digest about carers issues and government policy; Publications and other written materials (on request).

Last year the Family Carer Support Service was externally evaluated.  To read the report, please download opposite.

We also work with other organisations (including some that are outside the UK) to learn about and promote best practice that responds to the need and strengths of families and to influence policy and practice at local and national levels.

We set up and support the National Family Carer Network (NFCN) which links groups and organisations that support families that include an adult with a learning disability.
