Emma Sambrook

Director of Fundraising

Tell us a bit about your background

I joined Hft in January 2015, but before that date, I was the Director of Development and Alumni Relations at the University of the West of England where I launched and built the fundraising function.  I’ve also been Director of Fundraising and Development at the Calvert Trust, Chief Executive of KidsOut, and Director of Operations of Whizz-Kidz.

I’m also a trustee of the charity Doorway, which provides an open access centre for those that are homeless in the North Wiltshire area.  I’ve co-authored a book on fundraising law and I also give training on the subject for the Directory of Social Change.

What’s your best ‘Hft moment’?

I’m a fundraiser, and I’m committed to leading my team to deliver voluntary income growth to Hft and the people we support. So my best moment was the first six-figure donation I negotiated for Hft. I felt like I was really making a difference to both the family who made the donation and the people we support.

Emma says…

“I’m really pleased that fundraising can make a difference to the lives of the people we support when they can’t get the level of assistance they deserve. The fundraising team loves working with the people we support and I really enjoy seeing the satisfaction on everyone’s faces when we successfully complete an activity or event together.”
