Tell us a bit about your background
I am a parent, a grandparent, and a retired secondary school teacher. I became a trustee of Self Unlimited, and later Hft when the two merged, because I wanted to see the services for my son and all those supported by Hft provide the best life possible for them.
What made you decide to become a Trustee for Hft?
My experience facilitating parent support groups over many years and as trustee for a number of disabled children’s charities have led me to have a particular interest in the involvement of service users and their families.
But we currently face massive funding challenges. I want to support Hft in working to assure a properly funded adult social care service for the future.
What’s your best ‘Hft moment’?
I am proud to have been a part of establishing VTBH@Council, a group of people supported by Hft who represent the views of people with learning disabilities to the leadership team.
