Rowena Tye OBE
Tell us a bit about your background
I’ve enjoyed a career in the water industry, working as a scientist at Severn-Trent Water Authority and then at Ofwat as Chief Scientific Adviser, involved in the regulation of the privatised water industry. I received an OBE in 2007 for my contribution to Ofwat.
Since retiring, I’ve worked as a freelance advisor on water supply and regulation, including advising the governments in Egypt and Jordan on water supply issues.
What made you decide to become a Trustee for Hft?
I’ve been a member of Hft since 2004, when my son moved to Hft’s Kent service. I have been Chairman of the local support group in Coventry for six years and was elected as a Trustee of Hft in 2012.
What’s your best ‘Hft moment’?
I have found being a trustee very inspiring. And I am constantly impressed by the commitment of the support workers to the everyday life of the people we support, which is demonstrated in stories we hear each year at the Fusion Awards.
