Helping families get the right support from their local authorities
Annual Review 2019
Helping the families of people with learning disabilities or autism is a fundamental part of Hft’s work. Our Family Carer Support Service (FCSS)
is a free national service for family
carers of adults with learning disabilities and/or autism, whether they are supported by Hft or not. The team has extensive knowledge of the issues affecting family carers and their relatives.
The team’s biggest project this year, and one that they’re hugely proud of, is the publication of their resource “How to get the right support from
your local authority: a guide to the Care Act 2014 and other laws,
for family carers of an adult with learning disabilities and/or
autism”.
