This November saw Phil, who is supported by Hft in Stroud, celebrate a milestone work anniversary as he reached 15 years of employment as his service’s very own postman!
70 year old Phil started his role in 2005 after looking for paid employment, and has been taking care of postal business at the service’s central administration office ever since. Phil collects post every weekday and delivers it to the 11 other people supported at his service, ensuring everyone is kept up to date with all their correspondence!
Phil’s support workers note that his job has had a hugely positive impact on his life, with benefits ranging from a reduction in anxiety from going for daily walks, to giving Phil something to look forward to every day, and providing plenty of opportunities to socialise with other people and staff members during his delivery rounds.
To celebrate his milestone anniversary, Phil received shopping vouchers from Hft and shared a chocolate cake with his colleagues in the administration office!
“I’m proud of being postman at Hft for 15 years. My favourite thing about being a postman is delivering letters. I’m looking forward to celebrating by going to the pub for a meal and a pint when lockdown has ended.”
Tina Powell, Service Administrator at Hft Gloucestershire, said:
“We love Phil coming into the office every day to collect the post – he always walks in with a smile! He’s a great member of the admin team and always has his postman jacket and bag on. Phil brightens up our days and we’d like to wish him all the best as he celebrates this very special anniversary.”
