This year’s annual Wrag Barn Charity Golf Day in Highworth, sponsored by Haines Watts Swindon, has raised a record £14,652 for Hft, a charity that supports learning disabled adults to live the best life possible.

The annual fundraising event took place on 24 May and saw nearly 80 golfers enjoy an 18-hole course, a brunch put on by Wrag Barn Golf Club, and an auction and raffle, all with the purpose of raising money for the learning disability charity.

The amount raised is the most in the golf day’s 34-year history.

The funds raised this year will go towards core funded projects including care matters, support practitioners and Hft’s friendship service, Luv2MeetU.

This is the fourth year that the accountancy firm has sponsored the event and is one which is very close to the hearts of everyone involved.

Martin Gurney, Partner at Haines Watts, says, “We fully support the mission and values of Hft. The charity’s dedication to the people it supports is admirable and we are glad we can partner with them and Wrag Barn to truly make a difference.”

Tim Manners, owner of Wrag Barn, says, “I would like to thank everyone for their contributions to the day which made it such a success. We have a loyal following who have put in teams every year and our members are very supportive. Wrag Barn members Ros and Christopher Cliff put in a huge amount of work behind the scenes and Scott Talbert is a persuasive auctioneer!

“My sister Caroline had learning disabilities and was given wonderful support from Hft – she lived her best life.”

Emma Macdonald, Community Fundraising Manager at Hft, says, ““We would like to give our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended the 34th Wrag Barn Golf day, our sponsors Haines Watts and to Wrag Barn Golf Club for its unwavering support in aid of Hft. This incredible support helps create a future where learning disabled people can live the best life possible, in a kind and inclusive community.”
