As an Hft Casual Relief Worker, you’ll be supporting adults with learning disabilities to live the best life possible.
Hft is a national charity that’s been supporting people with learning disabilities since 1962. We put the people we support at the centre of everything we do and use our experience to work in partnership with them to provide personalised services to more than 2500 people.
There’s no such thing as a “typical day” for one of our Casual Relief Support Workers. You could be supporting someone with personal care in the morning, going shopping or to a local cafe in the afternoon.
Sometimes it’s challenging, but it’s always rewarding. You’ll go to work knowing that you’re making a positive difference to someone’s life. You’ll be working in a team of skilled, dedicated colleagues committed to doing the same and they will support you along the way.
Relief posts are completely flexible; you choose the hours you want to work, covering staff holidays and absence.
About the role: As an Hft Casual Relief Worker you’ll be supporting adults with learning disabilities within your community. In these roles, everything you do will enable people to have choices about their own lives, creating flexible services that meet people’s needs and always looking for the best way of doing things. Covering leave, training and sickness within our supported living services, with hours that fit in with life’s other commitments; this is an ideal way of discovering if this is the career for you.
About you: You don’t need experience of support work or any special qualifications for this job; what matters most is your positive attitude to life and your desire to support people to live their own life with as much independence, choice, dignity and control as possible.
What Hft can offer you: It’s helpful if you already have experience of dementia, autism and learning disabilities – but this is by no means essential as Hft will give you a comprehensive induction, full training and support. With Investors in People and Skills for Care accreditation we are committed to investing in our teams to ensure that they have the specialist skills and expertise needed to support people with the most complex needs to live the best life possible.
