We are currently recruiting Support Workers to join our friendly teams in the South Oxfordshire & Berkshire Service. Due to continued growth and expansion of our Service, we are looking to recruit Support Workers in each of the following locations and have various full and part-time positions available at each site.
As a Support Worker at Hft you get to work in a varied and rewarding role and get to make a real difference to people’s everyday lives. You will be enabling people to have fun doing the things that they love to do.
The purpose of the role is to give the highest possible standards of support to individuals with moderate to severe learning disabilities, in all aspects of their daily lives. You will be supporting people to:
In our houses we operate a shift system which may include split-shifts, evenings, weekends, bank holidays and occasional sleep-in duties. You may also be required to accompany people we support on their holidays. For bank holidays and sleep- in duties, enhanced payments are applied to your hourly rate.
We have various working patterns and hours available. The Flexible Support Day Centre opens from 9.30am – 3pm, therefore core hours of work will usually encompass these times. Some evenings and the occasional weekend may also be required so we are looking for people who are able to be flexible with the hours they are able to work.
To be a successful Support Worker in Hft having the right values and attitudes is more important than experience. Experience isn’t essential but you should possess the knowledge and confidence to enable people to live a more fulfilling and independent life.
We provide fantastic training opportunities, through a comprehensive induction, mandatory training and training specific to the individuals we support. We also encourage and support staff through the Health and Social Care Diploma.
A full UK or EU driver’s licence is desirable but not essential.

This job is important because:
You will enable the people we support to lead fulfilling lives based upon their personal support needs. You need to work to the standards set internally (by Hft) and externally (for example, by the Care Quality Commission), doing all you can to make sure that the people we support and your colleagues come to no harm and that the people we support are satisfied with the level of support they receive. You will achieve this by communicating with individuals and by following the underpinning principles of Person Centred Active Support (PCAS):
As we provide 24/7 support you need to be able to work shifts, including weekends, some nights and Bank Holidays. You will also be required to accompany people we support on holidays and attend training courses and other activities.
