We cover 13 local authority areas and run two spin-off projects: No Limits, and Hum Tum

No Limits

No Limits LogoExciting activities for adults with autism and Asperger’s syndrome in Kirklees.

No Limits is a friendship service where you can follow your own interests and try something new.

What we do is up to you!

No Limits will help you get out and about and try new things and visit different places. It will give you the chance to meet new people and make friends. We will support your journey to achieve your goals in life, becoming more involved in your local community, learning new skills, widening your circle of friends and signposting you to different opportunities and services.

What sort of things can I do?

Face-to-face activities

No Limits could help you become more active and healthier by joining in a range of supported leisure activities in your local community such as walking, museums, sporting activities, meals out and nights out. Events are based on your feedback and ideas put forward by you.

Workshops

We also run a variety of different educational workshops such as staying safe, relationships, mental health and  wellbeing, as well as some fun events such as cooking, yoga and escape rooms.

No Limits and Luv2meetU Online

No Limits and Luv2meetU (Our friendship and relationship service) also offer an online service giving you the opportunity to access an exciting range of national virtual events, offering you the chance to meet new people
and make friends across the UK.

You will access online events using a range of digital platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom and social media including Facebook.

What sort of things can I get involved in online?

You can join in a range of activities such as quizzes, sporting activities, cooking, craft sessions, workshops, music nights, karaoke, film/book reviews/clubs, party nights and more.

When will activities take place?

Both online events and face-to-face activities in your local community will take place at varied times, including outside of standard nine to five hours. This could be daytime, evening, weekdays and weekends to give you as much choice as possible.

How much does No Limits cost?

To access the No Limits service will cost £10 per month to be paid by setting up a regular standing order with your bank. This will also give you access to Luv2meetU Online so you can participate in virtual events at no extra cost.
In addition, we will charge you £5 per event attended in your local community, which will be chargeable on the day of the event. If possible pay by debit or credit card, however there will be an option to pay cash.

You will also need to pay for the activity itself unless this is advertised as a free event. This could be food and drink, cinema tickets or transport to and from events.

If you need support to travel to and from events we will discuss the options open to you. If you require one-to-one support you will need to have this available to you and bring a support worker/PA with you. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide this level of support through No Limits.

Funding

No Limits is available thanks to funding from:

Hum Tum

Hum Tum (Urdu for ‘You and Me’) is a friendship agency especially for people with learning disabilities from Asian communities based in Bradford.

Hum Tum was set up by Luv2meetU and Asian community organisation Hamara in 2011, to take into account the cultural and religious needs of people from Asian communities.

Hum Tum is based on developing friendships, allowing people to enjoy a healthy social life and make friends in environments that are familiar and comfortable to them.

Activities

Hum Tum provides social activities both online and face-to-face, such as Bollywood evenings, Henna painting evenings and ladies or gentleman only evenings. People also join together to celebrate religious festivals such as Diwali.

Activities take place in appropriate venues, such as those not serving alcohol.

How is Hum Tum run?

Hum Tum actively encourages involvement from people with learning disabilities and their families within the Asian community.

Like Luv2meetU, Hum Tum has robust risk assessment procedures, and people using Hum Tum and their Carers are involved in deciding what type of events to run.

What Carers say about Hum Tum

“Ali absolutely loves coming out with Hum Tum. I tell him to give it a miss one night but he refuses! He said he has made friends and wants to see them. He didn’t have any social life before Hum Tum and now I can’t get him to stay home!”

“I really, really appreciate all the work you do and believe me for Begum to miss her Tuesday club and come to your event is a big way of showing how much she loves Hum Tum.”
