Comedy star Griff Rhys Jones to host gala performance of one man show for Hft

Star of stage and screen Griff Rhys Jones is holding a special gala performance of his one man show The Cat’s Pyjamas in support of a cause close to his heart.

The performance will take place at the Royal Hospital School in Holbrook on October 10, with proceeds going to three charities, including learning disability charity Hft, of which he is a long-standing patron.

Griff has been a patron since being introduced to the charity in 1985 at a fete organised by Hft volunteers which he attended.

He has supported many fundraising initiatives over the years including a charity car rally and a cycle ride.

The October 10 performance of The Cat’s Pyjamas promises an evening of laughter and insight, showcasing Griff’s signature wit and storytelling.

Proceeds will benefit Hft, a restoration project at the 14th century St Mary’s Church in East Bergholt and a nature project at Stutton Primary School.

The Cat’s Pyjamas follows Griff’s hugely successful international tour All Over the Place, which played to capacity crowds across the UK, Australia, and New Zealand. Griff is also known for his TV work, including Smith and Jones, Not The Nine O’Clock News, and more recently his travel documentary Griff’s Great American South.

Hft Community Fundraising Manager Emma Macdonald said: “We are absolutely thrilled that Griff Rhys Jones has chosen to support Hft as one of the charities for ‘The Cat’s Pyjamas’.

“His involvement brings not only invaluable visibility to our work, but also helps shine a light on the experiences of learning disabled adults.

“Events like this allow us to reach supporters who perhaps haven’t engaged with our mission yet, and the funds raised will directly enable us to improve lives offering vital services, laughter, connection and hope.

“Griff’s commitment boosts our ability to build inclusive communities where learning people are celebrated, respected and empowered.

“We are honoured to have such passionate and long-standing advocates in our community.”
