Cooks enjoy pancake party to celebrate Shrove Tuesday

The delicious treats were served with a range of toppings

Budding cooks at our Hitchin Road service celebrated Shrove Tuesday in style – with a pancake party.

The cook off involved the people we support preparing the ingredients with Alistair, Jon and Adrian mixing the batter ready for pouring.

A team effort in the kitchen, everyone played their part with Christopher and David cooking the first of the crepes.

Hitchin Road Senior Support Worker Helen Inskip said: “Everyone took part at their own pace and support was given when needed.

“Susan showed real bravery by tossing a pancake almost independently and every one cheered as it landed back in the frying pan.”

A range of toppings were enjoyed – all chosen by the cooks – from lemon and sugar and maple syrup and jam.

Some of the pancakes were even served with peanut butter.

The cook off reached a finale with a pancake flipping competition among staff, although one did miss the frying pan and landed on the floor.
