Better outcomes for people with learning disabilities – transforming care

BOLD-TC was a project designed to trial video-consultation services with people with learning disabilities, with the intention of improving their health and outcomes.

The service, v-connect, connected people in their own homes to their doctor or consultant, via an easy-to-use system linked through their TV, smart phone or tablet device. v-connect aimed to make it easier to contact people when they were needed, or through pre-arranged appointments. It meant that users could get the support they needed without having to attend a GP surgery for example – something that many people with learning disabilities can find very stressful.

Hft received funding to trial the service in our Bradford, Kent, Devon and Wirral services over the course of one year.

What happened?

The BOLD-TC project finished in 2016. It proved the concept of video-consultation for people we support and we are looking at other providers and solutions to support this in the future.
