Families

We’re firm believers in the importance of partnering with you so together we can provide the best possible care and support for your loved one. We recognise the central role you play in your family member’s life and the importance of the lifelong relationships you have.

We also know that good communication is critical for us to build a positive relationship with you. You’re likely to want to take a deep interest in what your loved one is doing at Hft. We want to ensure that you’re kept informed and know where to go or who to speak to when you have a question or request.

If you do have any questions about the support your relative receives, your local Hft service will likely be best placed to help.

We produce a quarterly family newsletter where we share the latest news from around the charity including good news stories from the people we support, sector news and updates on what we are doing as a learning disability charity. As a family member you should receive this automatically via the post, however if you wish to receive the newsletter via email please visit our Families Newsletter page where you can share your preference.

We also have a section below where you can read previous newsletters.

Take part in our Hft family survey 2025

We’re working with Paradigm, Learning Disability England (LDE), and the National Development Team for Inclusion (NDTi) to run a survey with families of the people we support.

In November you will have received a survey in the post or via email dependant on your communication preferences. This also includes some further information on why we are running the survey.

You can also access the online survey via our QR code, or via this link:  https://bit.ly/Hftfamilysurvey2526

We would love to hear from each and every one of you, so please, if you have not shared your views yet – do so now! The online survey closes on 15 December (with a 22 December deadline for those returning a hard copy survey – given the impact on post during the festive season).

If you have any queries, please reach out to families@hft.org.uk and we will be happy to help.

Fill in the survey
