Cymuned Connect events in North Wales
Cymuned Connect is a social group for learning disabled and autistic adults in North Wales. We’re based in Flintshire, and mainly host events here. But we also have events in the Wrexham, Denbighshire and Chester areas. The aim of our group is to help our members to get out into their local communities, try new things, and make friends in a welcoming, safe environment.
Terri, our Community Coordinator, hosts around three face-to-face social events and three virtual events every week.
As part of the membership, you also get access to our national online social group, which is run by our Virtual Coordinator, Amy. She puts on many exciting virtual events every week which you can join from your phone, tablet or laptop. These events allow you to expand your social circle even further and meet other learning disabled and autistic adults from across England and Wales.

Activities you can get involved in
Our social events include activities like bowling, shopping trips, meals out, relaxing boat trips, and day trips. We also put on seasonal events, which are very popular. These include pumpkin picking, Valentine’s brunches and Christmas jumper pub crawls among others.
Events vary from days, evenings and weekends and we listen to our club members with future event suggestions so that we provide a service that everybody enjoys.
Memorable trips we’ve done recently include a sponsored hike up Snowdon. We organised a celebratory boat party along the river Dee with the money we raised, complete with a DJ and a buffet on board. Another highlight was our summer coach trip to Llandudno, where we enjoyed strolling along the pier and braving the fairground rides. We then took the tram up to the Great Orme, where we soaked in the breath-taking views stretching across the coastline and out to sea.

How do I join Cymuned Connect?
Joining us is simple. If you’re interested, you can email Terri at: Terri.Jones@hft.org.uk and ask for an application form. As part of the application process, we’ll also ask you for two references. One should be from a professional such as a support worker, and one should be from someone who knows you personally but isn’t a family member.
Membership of Cymuned Connect costs £10 per month, payable via standing order. There is also a £5 event fee for each event you attend. This is payable either by cash or card. All of the event information is in our monthly events flyer that we email out to club members.
