Luv2meetU events in Cheshire and Merseyside

Luv2MeetU Cheshire and Merseyside is a social group for learning disabled and autistic people. We help members to get out, try new things, and make friends in a safe, inclusive environment.

Joining our Luv2MeetU Cheshire and Merseyside group gives you access to between 3–5 activities most weeks. That’s around 230 events a year. Our events take place in and around Chester, Cheshire Oaks, and Liverpool.

Membership also gives you access to a wide range of online activities which you can join from your phone, tablet, or laptop. These are organised by our Virtual Coordinator, Amy, and include things like karaoke, quizzes, and relaxed social catch-ups.

Activities you can get involved in

The Cheshire group is led by Lou, who organises two events each week shaped by what club members would like to do. These activities vary each month, with most scheduled on Saturdays or weekday evenings.

Some of the events you can enjoy include pottery painting, open mic nights, pizza making, and trips to gaming arcades. In addition to these events, there is a weekly bowling club every Wednesday afternoon at Bromborough Bowl.

You can also join our two regular events in Ellesmere Port each week: Bingo on Monday afternoons and Crafts Club on Tuesday afternoons. These are usually facilitated by Karen from Hft, but Lou is always on hand to help you join in if you’re interested.

Throughout the year, Lou also arranges two or three big coach trips to exciting destinations such as Emmerdale Studios, Alton Towers, Blackpool, Llandudno, and Llangollen.

When you join our group, you’ll receive an events flyer by email or post each month. You can then let Lou know which events you’d like to attend by sending her a text, email, or by telling her in person when you’re are at an event.

How do I join?

You’re welcome to attend your first event as a free taster – we just ask that you bring someone along for support. After signing up as a member, you can attend events independently. However, you’re always welcome to bring support if you’d like.

As part of the application process, we require two references: one from someone who knows you personally (but not a family member), and one from a professional, such as a support worker or social worker.

Membership costs £10 per month, payable via standing order. There is also a £5 charge for each event you attend, which can be paid on the day by cash or card.

If you’d like to join our group, please email Lou and ask for an application form. Her email is: Louise.Devlin@hft.org.uk.
