A Flintshire learning disability service run by Hft is inviting locals to its very first Christmas fair on 15 December.
Taking place at Hft’s new service in Glanrafon, the Christmas fair promises to get all visitors in the Christmas spirit. Politician Lord Barry Jones opens the event, which boasts a huge range of activities for the whole family to enjoy.
Festive family fun includes a Build a Festive Bear stand, a Santa’s grotto complete with storytelling and even real reindeers and elf handlers, which visitors will have the opportunity to feed. Last minute shoppers can browse craft and perfume stalls, and even pick up a wreath made by Tri Ffordd, a gardening group comprised of people supported at Hft Flintshire.

People supported by Hft Flintshire are already preparing to spread some seasonal cheer, and have been busy designing stalls, which they’ll be helping to run during the fair.
All funds raised at the event will go directly to Hft Flintshire, which supports 270 people locally with day services and work opportunities. Work opportunities for adults with learning disabilities supported at the service include a café, assembly and packing service, gardening group, metal and iron based contract work, and sewing and needlework services.
Patricia Worsnop, Divisional Fundraising and Supporter Care Officer for Hft, said:
“Hft Flintshire’s first Christmas Fair is shaping up to be a highlight of the Christmas season and we’re hoping to see plenty of people there. During the season of goodwill, this is a great chance to socialise and raise money for a vital cause, which supports adults with learning disabilities to live the best life possible.”
Glanrafon Fair takes place from 12pm – 4pm on 15 December. Entry costs £1 for adults and is free for under 16s. Contact hftflintshire@hft.org.uk for more information.

About Hft
Proudly established in 1962 by a group of visionary parents, Hft is a charity supporting more than 2,500 learning disabled adults in England and Wales. Together, we are creating a future where learning disabled people and their families can live the best life possible.
Providing personalised support. Creating solutions for living independently. Coming together to campaign for positive change. Fundraising for new opportunities and a bigger impact.
In 2033, we’ll live in a world where learning disabled people have greater choice. About where they live. The support they need and want. And how to spend their time and money.
Learning disability versus difficulty
A learning disability is different from a learning difficulty but the terms are often confused and used inter-changeably. A learning difficulty does not affect general intellect, whereas a learning disability is a life-long condition characterised by a reduced intellectual ability and struggle with everyday activities.
