Every journey starts with a little support

This season, Jane is travelling thousands of miles to visit her family. With support from Hft, she has built the confidence to plan her trip and enjoy time with the people she loves.

We support learning disabled people to live with confidence, independence and connection all year round.

Across the UK, learning disabled people are finding new ways to connect with others, try new things and celebrate what makes them unique. But without the right support, many can feel shut out of society.

In the UK, 1 in 2 people with complex disabilities experience chronic loneliness, more than double the rate of the general population.

Can you support Hft with a gift this Christmas? Your donation today can help make those journeys possible. You can give someone the confidence to take their next step — this Christmas, and every day after.

Jane’s journey home

Jane loves visiting her family during the holidays. A few years ago, planning that trip felt daunting. With support from her Hft team, she has learned to book her flights, pack her bags and travel safely with confidence.

For Jane, this journey is about belonging, pride and knowing she can do it.

Right now, learning disabled people all over the country are working towards their own goals — from visiting family to finding work or living independently. And we know that for many learning disabled adults, that is only possible with the right care, and Hft support workers are there to help people every step of the way.

Can you help learning disabled adults be seen, heard and supported with a donation this Christmas?

Capturing creativity in Cornwall

A group of learning disabled photographers joined an Hft-supported club to explore creativity and meet new people.

With guidance from our colleagues, the group learnt new skills and built their confidence.

The result is a charity calendar filled with the beauty of Cornwall’s coastlines.

Enabling choice through fun

An advent calendar with a difference. In Bedfordshire, our colleagues are working with the people we support to plan a festive activity for each day of advent.

Opportunities to make decisions are crucial for confidence and self-esteem. Your support helps us turn ideas into reality, so that everyone we support has a voice.

Confidence in the spotlight

The Drama Llamas theatre group are performing their own version of A Christmas Carol.

For the performers, theatre is more than acting. It’s about finding your voice, learning together and sharing joy.

Your donations help fund the creative programmes that make this kind of growth possible.

Take on the 1.5 Christmas Challenge

1.5 million learning disabled people live in the UK. This holiday season, do a challenge themed around 1.5 and raise funds to help them thrive. Walk 1.5 miles, dance for 15 minutes, or do 15 good deeds – your challenge, your way.

Join us to make a difference and help ensure learning disabled people are seen, heard and supported.

Together, we make it possible

From journeys home to creative projects and community theatre, your support makes independence, creativity and connection possible for learning disabled people.

This season, whether you give, take part or share a story, you are helping build communities where everyone belongs.
